Stina Bäcker
Head of Operations, co-founder

Before co-founding Data4Change Stina worked as a journalist for the BBC, The Independent and CNN covering politics and social affairs for over a decade. Here she spearheaded multimedia projects that used data, social media and user-generated content to engage with global audiences around underrepresented topics. She has extensive knowledge of human rights after serving as Small Media Foundation’s director of media and advocacy for six years.

Bronwen Robertson
Director, co-founder

For nearly a decade Bronwen has supported civil society and human rights organisations around the world to use data-driven advocacy to amplify their stories through her work as Small Media’s director of research and global programmes. This work inspired her to identify pathways for civil society to use data for direct impact, and to co-found Data4Change. She is a published author and former UN Internet Freedom Fellow.

Michael Brenner
Head of Creative

With over 15 years of experience working as a designer specialising in data visualisation and information design, Michael has collaborated and led on projects for organisations such as the UN, World Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Google, Guggenheim Museum, MOMA, New York Times and more. He has worked for leading design studios in New York City, London and Rotterdam, where he ran his own studio and taught at the Willem de Kooning Academy.

Miriam Quick
Lead Researcher

Miriam is a data journalist and researcher who explores novel ways of communicating, researching and writing data stories. She works with creative agencies to transform raw datasets into meaningful and compelling visual narratives. She also collaborates and co-creates data artworks and exhibits for museums and galleries. Her first book, 'I am a book. I am a portal to the universe.', co-authored with Stefanie Posavec, was published by Penguin UK in September 2020.

Surasti Puri
Head of Design

Surasti is an information designer with 10+ years experience creating data-driven stories and visual content for clients like Spotify, Thomson Reuters Foundation, and The British Library. In her previous role as Head of Design at Small Media Foundation, she handled graphic assets, data visualisations, and visual storytelling for various campaigns. Surasti also freelances as a designer and illustrator for global clients. In 2022 Surasti won the Shorthand Community Choice Award for her work on D4C’s project Najiya.

Sarah Drinkwater

Is the Director at the Tech and Society Solutions Lab at Omidyar Network, where she works to test and scale interventions that help maximise the tech industry's positive contributions to a healthy society. Before that, Sarah was head of Google Campus London.

Hem Patel

Hem's an experienced creative with a focus on data-driven narratives and products. He has strong entrepreneurial skills and is adept at bringing teams and clients together to create validated strategies and visions that meet business objectives and goals. He applies his expertise across strategy, business development and partnerships within design, technology and education.

Cori Crider

Is a human-rights lawyer and founding director of Foxglove, a non-profit that investigates, litigates and campaigns at the crossroads of technology and social justice. She previously directed the national security team at the NGO Reprieve.
